What is Sexual Energy—And How Do You Tap Into It?

I taught a workshop last weekend focused on erotic embodiment for men, and I spent a lot of time talking about sexual energy. What is it, how to cultivate it, hold it, use it for arousal… mmm, juicy! To me, tapping into your innate, powerful sexual energy is one of the most potent things you can do for your partnered lovemaking. And it’s pretty dang fun on your own, too 😏

Sexual energy can be generated in the body without direct genital stimulation. Using a combination of breath, movement, visualization, and sound, you can build and expand your arousal. It’s pretty miraculous what can happen even in a few minutes of intentional practice. Even in the few minutes leading the practice during the workshop… phew, I got really charged up 🔥

And, hey, I know this sounds a bit woo-woo, maybe even impossible!

The first time I saw a teacher demonstrate this type of sexual energy practice (complete with multiple, rolling, loud, energetic orgasms), I didn’t believe it. And then… I experienced it myself! At that point in time, it was truly the best sex of my life… even though it wasn’t actually ‘sex.’ This opened up a world of possibilities and left me so curious and hungry for more. It’s like being high, without any substances. It’s being turned on by the entire world. Once, I sat beside a small bay on the Big Island and just breathed myself into an orgasmic state: literally making love with the ocean, the waves, the trees, the sun, and all that is. Since then, my partner and I have been able to explore shared sexual energy in a myriad of ways, and it’s completely changed the experience of lovemaking for me. It is so much more than I ever thought possible. And I know there is so much more to discover.

When you learn to tap into this energy that resides within, you’ll find it’s just below the surface, at all times. But, it’s only there if we give it attention and care. The best ways to experience the magic of sexual energy is with an experienced teacher, and there are multiple points of entry: breath, visualizations, body movements, and pelvic floor engagements. But if you want to try at home, here are some ways to tap into your sexual life force energy:
